The Magpies started the second round of the first division league in the best possible way. They defeated the current leaders of the first division, which removes them from the last place of the standings. This victory will surely help the Rabat side to fight bravely in order to avoid relegation.

The first half was equally balanced between Rabat and St Patrick with chances being wasted from both sides. In the second half St Patrick managed to go ahead after the Magpies lost a soft ball in the middle part of the pitch.

After that goal, the game became in control of the Magpies. They continued to attack until they found the net for two times. The first goal started after Joseph Caruana managed to acquire a lost ball outside the St Patrick goalkeeper area. He quickly gave a nice pass to the new entered Adam Smeir, where he performed a nice move by dribbling one of the defenders and gave an accurate pass to the center of the area were Adrian Mifsud was readily waiting to score the merited goal.

The second goal started from a free-kick on the right-hand side of the pitch. This was taken by Vilson Caushi, which was placed exactly on the head of Adrian Mifsud. This ball was headed in to add another personal goal to the Magpies veteran striker.

In the late minutes of the match, the St Patrick side had a player sent off for for an early shower after committing a foul on the Magpies keeper. A couple of minutes later Emmanuel Muscat was also sent to the dressing room after receiving the second yellow card of the match.
