Interview with Yessous Camilleri

Welcome Yessous, Can you please give us a brief introduction of yourself?
My name is Yessous Camilleri and I live in Valletta. I am 18 years old turning 19 on the 27th November. I started playing football since the age of three years with Valletta. In all my family consists of five members; Dad, Mum, my bigger sister who lives in Scotland and a younger brother who plays for Valletta U/15. All my family together with my girlfriend give me continuous support in whatever I do especially when coming to football.

How did you opt to join Rabat Ajax this season from Valletta FC?
When coach Silvio Vella took over at Rabat he spoke to me immediately and asked me if I was interested in joining the club. After a couple of days thinking about this decision I decided to join Rabat due to a lot of facts; I consider Rabat as a well recognized team in Malta, I have already worked with Mr. Vella and I also like his training and set up, and when I asked about the Rabat players I had a lot of positive feedback that they are very friendly and co-operative, so I decided to join the Magpies.

Two months after joining Rabat A. How do you consider your experience so far?
In my opinion and to what I have experienced so far at Rabat there is only ONE word to decribe all this: FANTASTIC. A special thanks goes to the Coach, Players, Committee & also the supporters!

After three matches played from the BOV 2nd Division league & qualification to the Quick-Keno Knock Out Quarter Finals, the Magpies are occupying the first place with full points. Do you believe that the team is strong enough to get promoted to the First Division?
Basically we had a very good start. Winning the first three league matches without conceding a goal and scoring ten goals is always a positive aspect to kick off the season with, but it's too early and we must keep our feet on the ground. Yes I believe that Rabat have a good chance not only to get promoted but also to win the league, but lets take match by match and we'll see at the end of the season.

Yessous, you are also a member of the Maltese Under 21 National team, and during the past years you've always played for the National Team in different levels. Any experience you would like to share with us?
Yes I've got two matches which are very hard to forget; U/17 European Qualification against England where I played against big players such as John Bostock (Who played for Tottenham, now on loan at Hull City) and Nathan Delfouneso striker at Aston Villa. The other match was at Under 19 level with the coach once again Silvio Vella in which we played Holland and were very unlucky after holding them for 90 mins 0-0 and then conceded a goal in the 93rd minute. From the National team I have learnt a lot.

If you could improve one aspect of your game, what would it be?
Yes I think if I improve my vision of the game it would help me develop much better. Will work hard on that!

Any comments you would like to add?
Thanks for this interview. My last comment goes to the Rabat Ajax Supporters. I would like to encourage all the supporters to attend the Rabat matches more regularly because they are part of our team. I would also like to thank the Rabat Payers, Coach. Committee members and also the Supporters once again for making me feel very comfortable in the heart of Rabat Ajax. THANKS!
