Rabat managed to obtain the first point of the season. This point is more than deserved for the Magpies, after viewing how the match was going.

Rabat had their goaler sent off in the 35th minute of the first half for a late tackle out of his area. Immediately afterwards, a genuine mistake by the Rabat defence resulted in a goal for the Mqabba side. From then onwards the Magpies started their game.

Rabat continued to attack throughout the rest of the match. A large number of occasions were bravely and luckily saved by the Mqabba keeper. In the 85th minute, Rabat were awarded a free-kick. This was bravely taken by Adam Smeir which was scored for a deserved draw.

Rabat could have easily obtained something more from this match. They were the better side for most of the time, even though they played most of the match with a ten men. Well done for all the players who gave their heart for this deserved point. The 2009 seems to have started on a positive note and the future looks bright.
