Viewing past statistics Rabat and San Gwann have encountered each other in only four confrontations. Two of these were played last season in the second division league, were both teams managed to achieve promotion. During last season San Gwann were the better side in direct confrontation were they managed to achieve a victory and a draw. Though, viewing the final standings both teams managed to get the same number of points at the end of the league, but San Gwann were rewarded the league title due to direct confrontation and a better goal difference.

Viewing recent results, and considering the fact that both teams have just been promoted they seem that both of them are suffering from lack of experience in a superior division. In fact results show that San Gwann managed to achieve only a single victory till the start of the year and against a team that is to fight to avoid relegation. The victory achieved was in their last match and so should boost their morality. The other positive results for them in the second division league consists in a single draw in their first match.
Rabat on the other hand managed to achieve their first positive result in the first divison league during their last match with a very important draw. Viewing how things were going during last match, this draw is a crucial result for the team which should boost the whole team spirit and morality. If the team repeats the same match played in the second half against Mqabba, with the same spirit and with all eleven players on the pitch, a positive result should be guaranteed. Also, most of the players who played during the last match showed some of their best performances that they used to play with during the last season.
As told in the previous weeks, in recent years a team managed to start the first division in the same way as the Magpies are doing (ie 4 defeats and continued with a draw). The team I am refereing to is Tarxien in season 98/99. On their sixth outcome Tarxien managed to obtain another consecutive draw. It must be noted that though results does not seem so positive, Tarxien still managed to avoid relegation and finish in a 4th position. Will Rabat continue on the same string of results, reach the same standings or be capable of achieving something better throughout the rest of the season?
